Slate and tiled roofing

Traditional slate and tiled roofs, faithfully restored.

Edinburgh is a city of slate. From New Town tenements to suburban villas, we repair, restore and renew traditional Scottish slate and tiled roofs with the same care they were originally built with.

Slate roof repair and renewal in Edinburgh

Most of Edinburgh's traditional roofs are slate, and many are now well past their first century. Nail-sickness, slipped slates and failed flashings are the usual culprits when leaks appear. Where a roof can still be saved with repairs, we'll say so. Where it can't, we'll quote you for a careful, properly detailed re-roof using matching natural slate.

Tiled roofing on modern and suburban properties

On concrete and clay tiled roofs - typically twentieth-century houses across Corstorphine, Liberton, Sighthill and the surrounding suburbs - we replace broken or porous tiles, rebed ridges, renew flashings and refit underlay. We work with all the major manufacturers' systems.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

A large part of central Edinburgh is in a conservation area or is itself listed. We are experienced in matching original materials, working to conservation standards and liaising with planning officers and building factors where required.

Designed to last another generation

Every job uses correct fixings for the exposure, properly dressed code-4 or code-5 lead where appropriate, and a breathable membrane suited to the building. The aim is a roof that will quietly do its job for decades.
